If you are in this article you belong to one of these two categories: either you want to learn crochet and earn money OR you already know how to crochet but are interested in the money-making part.
Either way, this article is for you.
However, the first part will be for those who don’t really know where to start.
Why
Boom Crochet trend
Some of you may be wondering why in 2023 anyone would want to learn to crochet.
And more importantly, how does such an ancient art make money in the modern world?
Well, if you’re here you’ve certainly noticed, but in recent years, especially since 2020, the handicrafts have been reborn and so many people have become curious and wanted to learn new ways to pass the time.
There has been a real crochet boom. Probably to be linked to all the free time that came with the pandemic. Blogs, youtube channels, thousands of shops on etsy and tutorials on tiktok were born.
Everyone who already knew how to do it immediately got excited and didn’t wait to start teaching everything they knew to anyone who would listen. Some out of pure passion, others to make money. And honestly, I’m proud of both sides.
In short, crocheting is no longer something you talk about almost with fear of being called ‘granny’, (my personal nickname), but it is a hobby you are proud of.

Learn to crochet and earn money

How to learn
I had the great fortune to have exceptional teachers in primary school who taught me how to sew, crochet and even lace (besides the normal subjects obv). However, I realise how rare this is.
Often the only people able to teach something so old and manual are grandmothers and mothers, but even here, not everyone has the chance.
In this article I will do my best to explain how to get started without immediately panicking and abandoning the mission.
I assure you that if a class of incorrigible 8-year-olds has learnt to crochet, so can you.
Now that we have realised that EVERYONE, even you who think you are incapable, can learn and create wonderful things, you will say to me:
“OK that’s all well and good, but how do I learn now?”
Fair question but there are many answers. As I have already mentioned, especially in the last few years, a lot of creators have started to make content about crochet.
All are super beginner friendly and there are options for all personalities.
- Yb tutorials
- Blog
- Friends who can crochet
If you are among those who learn by watching and are constantly afraid of making mistakes (Hi, it’s me), you will love using youtube videos (and tiktok) to learn how to crochet.
If you prefer to read instructions and follow them at your leisure, there are excellent blogs just waiting for you. One that I personally adore is this, to the writer of that blog I owe the existence of iinkonscreen. She doesn’t know it but I will be forever grateful to her.
Continuing.
The last option, if you have friends, family or acquaintances who know how to crochet and are armed with patience, ask them to teach you.
It will make it more fun and you will cover every misstep with a good laugh.
Of course to start to crochet and earn money you will need some materials, I have found you this kit that includes EVERYTHING you need.
Let’s get to the juicy part,
Earn money easily from home

What can you sell
- Dresses
- Puppets
- Patterns
For beginners, the easiest things to create at first are table doilies and puppets. Of course, as in any creative art, it is all personal.
But if you want to start making something right away, I recommend practising with crocheted puppets.
They are super cute and loved by everyone.
Just have a look on Pinterest.

Those with a little more experience can sell anything. The crochet creations that are most easily sold are puppets and patterns.
In case you don’t know, patterns are precise instructions on how to make something. Step by step.
As I have already told you, a lot of people want to learn how to crochet and would therefore prefer to make their own dress or cow.
That is why so many people earn several thousand dollars just by selling patterns.
Apart from these, clothes are also highly sought after. Especially the top. The only problem is that they naturally require more time and energy and are often not sold at the price they deserve.

Where to sell
Of course, if you want to make money selling handmade products, you have to have a platform to show yourself to the group.
There are three very efficient ways:
- Etsy -> Pinterest
- Friends
- Marketplace
Etsy is the perfect place to sell and buy handmade items. I love using it not only because of the unique and beautiful items found all over the site, but mostly because your money goes to people just like you, who build a side hustle with their hobbies.
You may wonder why I linked Etsy to Pinterest? Simple, they are the perfect match.
Pinterest loves anything related to hobbies and DIY and is great for advertising other platforms
Bloggers talk about it every day.
Millions of pins on Pinterest are linked to Pinterest shops and bring in $10K+ monthly.
Lifestyle and DIY trends have a potential reach of between 13.3 and 16.5 million.
If you use this magic couple cleverly, in no time you will receive millions of views without spending a cent.
Another way to sell, old-fashioned but still working, is word of mouth. Show your creations to your friends and ask them to show them to someone who might be interested. Between acquaintances and family, you could rack up quite a few fans.
Tip: Show your creations on tiktok and follow your friends’ friends.
The last but not least way is to use flea markets.
Yes those full of bored old people walking back and forth for 3 hours (I can’t judge in a few years I will be like that too).
All joking aside, they really are a gold mine. In just a few days you can earn hundreds of dollars, especially if your creations are cute and easily attract attention.
There is nothing better for a salesman than a place full of people who want to buy.
Take advantage of every opportunity you get to advertise, and remember the most important thing, always be polite!
The article ends here, now all that’s left is for you to go and learn how to crochet and start earning money easily from home. Earning money from home can be much more than a dream in the drawer.
